TOP FIVE EVENTS IN NOVEMBER

There’s a cool saying we people from Zagreb often use: it doesn’t matter where you are, but who you’re with. And it’s absolutely true! Imagine you attended some of the upcoming cultural events in November (which you must turn up at!) in wrong company? And, instead of cultural pleasures, experience disaster? Take a peek at our guide to top events in Zagreb in order to have a good time – in the appropriate company.

For a romantic experience: If you wish to enjoy the mellow sounds of the acoustic guitar, visit the Lauba gallery on November 11th. José González, a 37-year-old singer and songwriter of Swedish and Argentinian roots will stir the romance by gently picking on the guitar strings. / www.lauba.hr

With your dad: You cannot picture your dad as a seasoned rock fan? Treat him to the Whitesnake gig on November 21th in Dražen Petrović basketball and concert hall! The fiery dudes led by David Coverdale are sure to bring your dad back to his adolescence. Check how the aging fans wildly shake their hair to the frenzied rhythm (that is, those who have any hair left). / KK Cibona, Savska 30

With your mom: Starting on November 14th the Arts and Crafts Museum will be showing the works of the multifaceted Croatian artist Edo Murtić from his “new abstraction” creative cycle. This retrospective exhibition will provide you with an insight in the models, sketches and photos as well as the original murals, plates and saucers. And your mum will have a chance to purchase some replicas in the museum store to decorate your home. At the end of the day, both of you will be happy! /www.muo.hr

With a friend visiting from abroad: Why wouldn’t you introduce him to the Croatian master painters? Since late October, the Croatian Visual Arts Association (HDLU) has been holding the traditional Croatian painting show, featuring as many as 38 authors including Josip Vaništa, Zlatan Vrkljan, Zlatan Vehabović, Stjepan Tadić and others. Let him learn about the Croatian visual talents. /www.hdlu.hr

In a merry company: If you want to have plenty of fun, keep in mind that the Street Art 2.0 Exhibition: Innovation at the Heart of the Movement doesn’t close until the end of November. Gather your buddies and head for the Klovićevi dvori Gallery, where you’ll learn about the development of street art since its beginnings. You’ll even have an opportunity to paint your own graffiti on the water surface or to make a QRadio with QR codes. QRadio is an interactive street art and street music project originally launched in Berlin. So coool! / www.gkd.hr
